The Lie of Preventative War
Foreign Minister Joachim von Ribbentrop speaks on the morning of the Russia invasion to journalists in Berlin. Despite the existence of a nonagression pact, Hitler sent 3 million German soldiers to invade the Soviet Union under the code name "Barbarossa." The nazi leadership justified the attack as a preventative strike to hinder an alleged attack being planned by Stalin.

U.S. congressmen are investigating the British government’s role in helping to prepare for the war in Iraq.
Senior Democrats in Congress are considering sending a delegation to London to investigate Britain’s role in the preparations for the war, which was launched in March 2003. They have seized on a leaked Downing Street memo, first published three weeks ago by The Sunday Times, as evidence American lawmakers were misled about Bush’s intentions in Iraq.
A group of 89 Democrats from the (…) -
Members of Congress unaware of missing 8.8 billion

3 commentsLast Friday I was on the panel of Bill Maher’s season finale of his HBO show “Real Time.” Bill’s guest by satellite was Senator Norm Coleman from my home state of Minnesota. Because Coleman serves on the homeland security committee, Maher asked him to comment on former homeland security director Tom Ridge’s recent revelation that the Bush administration would often issue terror alerts that he didn’t think were warranted. Could it be that they were using terror alerts politically?
Coleman (…) -

Lying for a Living: The White House Comments on the Downing Street Memo
20 May 2005 par (Open-Publishing)
4 commentsI wonder if they’re getting nervous now in the West Wing.
As the drumbeat grows louder, the White House finally decided to comment on the Downing Street Memo.
But only in typical Bush administration fashion. Which means rhetorical games, little lies, and big ones hidden in the context of what is said and not said.
So, for example, when White House spokesman Scott McClellan finally responded to questions put to him over the last week about the memo, he of course said that he hadn’t read (…) -
The Grand Illusion - A Nation Willingly Deceived

1 commentThat incriminating "smoking gun" memo proving the Bush and Blair Administrations pre-determined an invasion and occupation of Iraq long before the invasion occurred has apparently come and gone, barely noted in the American press, AWOL from editorial pages. Eighty-eight brave members of Congress signed and sent a letter authored by Rep. John Conyers (D-MI) ( http://www.rawstory.com/aexternal/conyers_iraq_letter_502 ) asking President Bush to answer questions about the secret U.S.-UK (…)

Gorgeous George - An Open Letter to U.S. Democratic Elected Officials
20 May 2005 par (Open-Publishing)
3 commentsDear Democratic Elected Officials of the United States (with damn few exceptions),
I am writing this open letter to call your attention to the remarks made yesterday, May 17, 2005, to the United States Senate, by British MP George Galloway of the independent Respect Party. I do this because he serves as an example of why your party should be abandoned by the U.S. working class, by U.S. women, by oppressed nationalities in the United States, and by anyone who professes to be a progressive (…) -
Global News Matrix Interviews Ajai Raj re: Life..and Coulter
20 May 2005 par (Open-Publishing)
2 commentsOn May 3rd, 2005, a young English Major, Ajai Raj attended a speaking engagement for Ann Coulter.
Ms. Coulter is not a stranger to controversy. She has been booed at several events and even an attempted pie throwing incident occurred.
What happened though, on May 3rd has prompted Global News Matrix to take it a step further.
Ajai Raj asked a question..a crude question that did not warrant an answer. He knew he would be asked to leave the event. What happened next in our (…) -
Galloway testimony reminiscent of the day McCarthy went down

3 commentsWashington, May 18: It was as if the Boston Tea Party had been reversed all over after 232 years!
Hours after it happened yesterday, BBC newsreaders could not hide their smirk of satisfaction. In the Senate office buildings here, Americans gasped in disbelief that this was happening.
George Galloway, the British MP who gave Tony Blair a black eye last fortnight by winning in a Labour stronghold after having been expelled from the ruling party, stormed up Capitol Hill yesterday to answer (…)
