The impeachment of President Bush and Vice President Cheney, under Article II, Section 4 of the Constitution, should be part of mainstream political discourse.
Minutes from a summer 2002 meeting involving British Prime Minister Tony Blair reveal that the Bush administration was ’’fixing" the intelligence to justify invading Iraq. US intelligence used to justify the war demonstrates repeatedly the truth of the meeting minutes — evidence was thin and needed fixing.
President Clinton was (…)

Media Black Out Downing Street Minutes
1 June 2005 par (Open-Publishing)
Aggressive followers and participants in U.S. politics often have strong opinions about the Downing Street Minutes. Most other Americans have not heard of or are not clear about what the Downing Street Minutes are.
How is this possible? Here we have the official government minutes from a meeting of British Prime Minister Tony Blair and his top national security officials, including a briefing by Richard Dearlove, then-director of Britain’s CIA equivalent, MI-6, who had just returned from (…) -
Fox News finally reports on Minutes/Memo-"Downing Street Memo Mostly Ignored in U.S."
1 June 2005 par (Open-Publishing)
3 commentsWASHINGTON - A British government memo that critics say proves the Bush administration manipulated evidence about weapons of mass destruction in order to carry out a plan to overthrow Saddam Hussein (search) has received little attention in the mainstream media, frustrating opponents of the Iraq war.
The "Downing Street Memo" - first published by The Sunday Times of London on May 1 - summarizes a high-level meeting between Prime Minister Tony Blair (search) and his senior national security (…) -
Minutes, not "memo"

"THE DOWNING STREET MINUTES
If any one looked objectively they would know.
If anyone used a dictionary they would know.
If anyone asked a secretary they would know.
If anyone studied judiciously they would know.
A memo is an inter-office communication.
Minutes are the real-time record of a meeting, whose veracity is checked by all members attending, and are given to all members attending, and must be kept by all (…) -
National Catholic Reporter on The Downing Street Memo- Democracy Demands we Ask Questions

7 commentsBack to the basic question on Iraq
Perhaps it is unrealistic to expect a country hip deep in a war that seems to defy explanation — and that is going far worse than the Bush administration had ever anticipated — to stop and ask questions at this late date about why we are there.
Asking such questions would mean retracing so many steps that feinted past so many obstacles that it would be difficult to establish what really happened. It’s much easier to simply buy the line that has evolved, (…) -
Condoleeza Rice aware of Downing Street Minutes/Memo but ignores reporter’s questions

6 commentsAnd if I could then ask both of you to comment on the very well-publicized British memo that was leaked to the Times of London, or to the London Times. Madame Secretary —
SECRETARY RICE: Which one is that? Andrea, which one is that?
FOREIGN SECRETARY STRAW: Which one is that?
QUESTION: On Iraq. That came out about 10 days ago, 12 days ago. Are you not aware of this memo?
SECRETARY RICE: Well, a lot of them are, unfortunately, out. (Laughter.)
QUESTION: In particular, this memo — (…) -
US aircraft doubled bombing raids on Iraq in 2002 to provoke Saddam Hussein
29 May 2005 par (Open-Publishing)
1 commentTHE RAF and US aircraft doubled the rate at which they were dropping bombs on Iraq in 2002 in an attempt to provoke Saddam Hussein into giving the allies an excuse for war, new evidence has shown.
The attacks were intensified from May, six months before the United Nations resolution that Tony Blair and Lord Goldsmith, the attorney-general, argued gave the coalition the legal basis for war. By the end of August the raids had become a full air offensive.
The details follow the leak to The (…) -

I have written to you in this space on a number of occasions about my profound concern about the implications of the "Downing Street Memo," which actually consists of the minutes of a July 2002 meeting between British Prime Minister Tony Blair and his top advisers. During this meeting, Blair and his advisers reveal details about conversations with their American counterparts. These details cast substantial doubt on the honesty of contemporaneous claims made by the (…) -
American Reporter Needs Help Understanding Why The World Hates Bush
27 May 2005 par (Open-Publishing)
87 commentsLast week, I spent a few days in London giving a series of lectures on American foreign policy.
My audiences were American and generally supportive of what the Bush administration is doing in fighting terror and spreading freedom.
The Europeans, on the other hand, were a different story. The British media were full of stories pounding the president and his policies. Since I couldn’t get MSNBC in London, I was stuck watching the BBC, with its nightly onslaught against the U.S.
The day I (…) -
The memo: Boston constitutional lawyer seeks Resolution of Inquiry on Iraq
27 May 2005 par (Open-Publishing)
2 commentsMEMORANDUM To: Rep. John Conyers, Jr. From: John C. Bonifaz Date: May 22, 2005 RE: The President’s Impeachable Offenses
The recent release of the Downing Street Memo provides new and compelling evidence that the President of the United States has been actively engaged in a conspiracy to deceive and mislead the United States Congress and the American people about the basis for going to war against Iraq. If true, such conduct constitutes a High Crime under Article II, Section 4 of the United (…)
