For several days I had been bedeviled by the recurring memory of a jingle from an out-dated television commercial. My recollection of the product they were promoting lay tantalizingly close to the edge of my consciousness, but remained stubbornly out of my reach.
So my “mind’s ear” was left listening to, “It’s time for a new beginning…” ad nauseam with no tangible context. (If I had had that, I would at least have known which company to despise for etching such an inane (…)

Top 10 Reasons Hillary Will Fail
26 January 2007 par (Open-Publishing)
2 commentsHere are the top 10 reasons Hillary doesn’t stand a snowball’s chance in hell: 1. Being the quintessence of a flipflopper, she’s far more chameleon than true leader, watching the wind far more than stirring the currents, especially regarding Iraq. 2. Name recogniition by this time has, like a carton of old cottage cheese, exceeded its expiration date. (Just ask Tom Cruise, Michael Jackson and Newt Gingrich about that syndrome) 3. Her voting record is an agenda that prompts running from (…)

Baltimore, MD - One of six children, the Speaker of the U.S. House of Representatives, Nancy Pelosi (nee D’Alesandro), age 66, grew up in this city’s charming “Little Italy” area. Her modest family home at the corner of Albemarle and Fawn Streets is surrounded by about ten blocks of even smaller homes and a cluster of restaurants. It is also just a short hop to the R.C. parish school and church, St. Leo’s, she once attended. Pelosi was back (…) -

No democracy is seen in the Congo as children are being used as sex slaves

2 commentsNo democracy is seen in the Congo as children are being used as sex slaves By Mary MacElveen November 18, 2006
In reading the main stream American press accounts of the Congo elections in which the loser filed a challenge to the outcome, it was as if I were having a flash back to the 2000 presidential elections in the United States.
One former rebel who lost the election “filed a lawsuit Saturday claiming he was cheated of millions of votes” Does that sound familiar to anyone reading (…) -
Marie-George Buffet: "We should declare war on the Right"
17 November 2006 par (Open-Publishing)
At the close of work at the National Conference, Marie-George Buffet notably had to say:
"We measure the unparalleled stakes in the 2007 elections, for the future of our country: either to slide into bi-partism, with its hopeless succession of alternances, or instead to give rise to a popular alternative to neo-liberal politics. This must be our objective: to construct on the Left a popular and political majority, around a project capable of changing our life. This ambition, I sum up in (…) -
