Those who can’t be bothered to go out and vote on election day or think their vote won’t make a difference not only miss the point but also miss a prime opportunity to voice their dissatisfaction. In the Western world, we preach and proselytize the gospel of democracy and even try to force it on other countries (whether they like it or not), providing expertise and money to set up a framework for democratic elections. Over history, people across the world have died (or put their lives in (…)

The French Government Must Recognize the Null Vote/Spoiled Ballot
16 January 2010 par (Open-Publishing)
2 commentsMost people fall into two camps on the issue of voting. Either they believe that it is one’s civic duty to vote in an election or they shun elections altogether. Not bothering to vote is a sign of apathy while voting for the sake of voting can put the wrong party in power. Not many voters are even aware that a third option is available to them: the null vote! “Votez Nul” is a very straightforward French campaign to have a defaced ballot or null vote recognized for what it is. If individuals (…)

THE MAINSTREAM media narrative of events unfolding in Iran has been set out for us as clear as a fairytale: an evil dictatorship has rigged elections and now violently suppresses its country’s democrats, hysterically blaming foreign saboteurs the while. But the Twitter generation is on the right side of history (in Obama’s words), and (…) -
Shill Heaven

If anything is clear about the recent Iranian election it is that all sides have been afforded ample opportunity to get in their licks. First of course there is the mainstream media, who have been screaming fraud at the top of their hypocritical lungs while keeping steadfastly mum about massive and transparent election fraud in the US (Selection 2000 being only the most conspicuous example). Not to be outdone, "dissident" pundits of all stripes have swooped in on the opportunity to accuse (…)

AHMADINEJAD WON INDEED AND THE REAL SOURCE OF INTERFERENCE IN IRAN’S ELECTION IS LIKELY THE UNITED STATES
John Chuckman
A recent article called “Ahmadinejad Won, Get Over It” by Flynt and Hillary Leverett is not the only source with serious credentials offering reasonable, non-sensational explanations for events around Iran’s presidential election.
Kaveh Afrasiabi, a scholar who once taught at Tehran University and is the author of several books, says many of the same (…) -

Global Research, June 25, 2009 Foreign Policy Journal - 2009-06-23
Following the announcement of victory for Mahmoud Ahmadinejad over his main opponent Mir Hossein Mousavi in Iran’s presidential election on June 12, the country erupted in turmoil as supporters of Mousavi flocked to the streets to protest what they claimed was a fraudulent election, while state security and militia forces cracked (…) -

What Actually Happened in the Iranian Presidential Election?
By ESAM AL-AMIN
Since the June 12 Iranian presidential elections, Iran "experts” have mushroomed like bacteria in a Petri dish. So here is a quiz for all those instant experts. Which major country has elected more presidents than any in the world since 1980? Further, which nation is the only one that held ten presidential elections within thirty years of its revolution?
The answer to both questions, of course, is Iran. Since (…) -

Okay Mike, I had to share this with you, I would have laughed at how pitiful this propaganda is, but as a british ex-pat, maybe I will just cry.
You know the LA times article you listed with Ahmadinejad waving and the caption ’Hundreds of thousands in Iran protest vote result’?

“Change for the poor means food and jobs, not a relaxed dress code or mixed recreation... Politics in Iran is a lot more about class war than religion.” Financial Times Editorial, June 15 2009
Introduction There is hardly any election, in which the White House has a significant stake, where the electoral defeat of the pro-US candidate is not denounced as illegitimate by the entire (…) -
Iran protests: breeding ground for new revolution?
18 June 2009 par (Open-Publishing)
The West may take advantage of mass protests in Iran following the re-election of President Ahmadinejad to organize a ‘green’ revolution similar to color revolutions in former Soviet states, says journalist Wayne Madsen.
“What may have been a mass protest without foreign interference may now be subsidized by people like George Soros. We are talking about yet another themed revolution – in this case, a green revolution,” Madsen told RT.
