THE MEMO is the final straw.

We’re
not talking circumstantial evidence anymore. It is now verified fact
that George Bush and Tony Blair agreed to go to war in early 2002, and
that they "fixed the facts" to make the case for war. If this isn’t a
case for impeachment, then nothing is.

What facts did they fix?
In Britain, Blair’s henchmen fabricated the "fake dossier" (1991 grad student’s thesis) and soon-to-be interim Iraqi PM Ayad Allawi supplied the 45 min claim.

Bush threatened America with mushroom clouds (mp3) - backed by the forged Niger-Uranium Documents and the [Saddam - al Qaeda connection] lie.

John Conyers highlighted these key facts from The Memo :

  • Prime Minister Tony Blair chaired a July 2002 meeting,
    at which he discussed military options, having already
    committed himself to supporting President Bush’s plans
    for invading Iraq.
  • British Foreign Secretary Jack Straw acknowledged
    that the case for war was "thin" as "Saddam
    was not threatening his neighbours and his WMD capability
    was less than that of Libya, North Korea, or Iran."
  • A separate secret briefing for the meeting said that
    Britain and America had to "create" conditions
    to justify a war.
  • A British official "reported on his recent talks
    in Washington. There was a perceptible shift in attitude.
    Military action was now seen as inevitable. Bush wanted
    to remove Saddam, through military action, justified
    by the conjunction of terrorism and WMD. But the intelligence
    and facts were being fixed around the policy."


Greg Palast: Read that again: "The intelligence and facts were being fixed...." For
years, after each damning report on BBC TV, "Isn’t this grounds for
impeachment?" Vote rigging, a blind eye to terror and the bin Ladens
before 9-11, and so on. Evil, stupidity and self-dealing are shameful
but not impeachable. What’s needed is a "high crime or misdemeanor." And if this ain’t it, nothing is.


Ray McGovern: The intelligence was
not simply mistaken; it was manufactured, with the president of the
United States awarding foreman George Tenet the Medal of Freedom for
his role in helping supervise the deceit. The British documents make
clear that this was not a mere case of "leaning forward" in analyzing
the intelligence, but rather mass deception-an order of magnitude more
serious. No other conclusion is now possible.

false, misleading and deceitful statements to the Congress regarding
evidence justifying military action against Iraq.

In his conduct... [Bush] actively participated in a conspiracy with the Prime Minister
of the United Kingdom to mislead and deceive Congress and the
Parliament of the United Kingdom regarding evidence justifying military
action against Iraq.


There are more- but do you really need more?


It is time to apply intense pressure to every member Congress:
Vote for impeachment or you
will go to prison right alongside the war criminals. Failing one’s
sworn duty to uphold and defend The Constitution is TREASON. Make no
mistake about it, the evidence calls for impeachment.

    • From what I read, almost all the major American press is owned or controlled by the powers of the govt. This should be on the cover of Times and Newsweek and US News and World Report etc etc. Where is the news??

    • Do not count on the media to tell the American people squat - they are owned and controlled by huge comglomerates whose bottom line is profits not truth, entertainment not reality. They report just enough to make you think your informed, but not enough to question anything.

      The only news in America that is worth a damn is PBS (public broadcasting) - McNeil Lehrer, Frontline and NOW being the best (they show BBC news as well). Bush & conservatives recently replaced the head of PBS, complaining about their "liberal leanings." Yes, they are trying to change/control the only real news we get!!! - Besides, no-one watches PBS news except those who already "get it." Those who *need* to watch alternative news are too busy listening to Rush Limbaugh and Fox, or CNN (I use to think great! a 24 hour news show - that just repeats endlessly the same crap u here on the 30 min news shows anywhere else! What a joke).

      Air America & PBS radio are the only other sources for alternative mass-media news. Again, the only people listening, or digging for news from many sources on the internet, are those who already "get it." ....
      We definitely live in an Orwellian land, where our sources of information are controlled. It’s not about telling lies, as much as it’s about keeping people complacent; Giving just enough information to make you think your informed, but not enough to ever question what we’re doing.

    The secret Downing Street memo IS the proof. What is needed now is the political will to prosecute Bush, Blair and Cheney.

    I think it will become clearer in the coming weeks just how dangerous this administration is when it feels threatened as this story seeps out into the mainstream. But does this evil administration really feel threatened? Given the powerful forces that stand behind them?

    I’m certain there are many dark forces working both in front of, and behind the scenes who will do anything to protect Bush, Blair, and the Military Industrial Complex. Add to that the wealthy corporations that continue to rake in huge profits from its policies and this phony war. These are dangerous forces.

    Are we really a great people? We shall see. It will take courage to stand up to this administration and invoke the Constitution and the Bill of Rights.

    11) The continued destruction of our quality of life, and potentially destroying the Earth by rolling back EPA standards, even in light of global warming which will change life-as-we-know-it dramatically.
    12) The burden & costs of basic programs and health care increasingly pushed onto states and the individuals as the federal government and big business cut funding with glee!
    13) All the huge questions about the source and events surrounding 9/11, and the failure of government to investigate them.
    14) Outsourcing of American jobs with no controls.
    15) Refusing to increase minimum wage to a "living wage," and the across the board cut in real income for all middle & lower-class Americans.
    16) Control, marginalizing & manipulation of the media through big business ownership.
    17) Allowing religious factions to control & influence constitutional government procedures.
    18) Fraud and war-profiteering by companies like Haliburton go unpunished.
    19) Criminals and frauds like DeLay & Guckert walk the halls of government unpunished.
    20) Promoting the continued & unheeded use of 26% of the world’s energy by America with such propagandic statements as: "The American way of life will not be compromised."
    21) Civil Rights being compromised. Police State instituted. With the magic words "national security" they can now make you disappear: no charges, no contact with the outside world, no known location; disappear. Two teenage girls from N.Y. recently disappeared ... how many others and why? We don’t know, they no longer need to be accountable!
    22) Manipulating the population with emotionally charged nationalistic fear tactics (straight from the fascist/dictatorial playbook).
    23) The "sunset clause" recently passed with the exorbitant budget that gives a small group of people the power to close any federal program deemed unworthy.
    24) Allowing the credit card companies and banks to put millions of Americans in more personal debt than they can afford. Then tightening up bankruptcy laws and increasing minimum payments. And allowing the housing bubble to push housing prices higher & higher. All of which effectively makes Americans wage slaves.
    25) Refusing to legalize the importing of Canadian drugs by saying "we have to make sure the’re safe," costing Americans billions in hard earned cash during the six years they’ve had to deem them safe!
    26) Abuse and torture of prisoners deemed our enemies.
    27) The continued harboring and promotion of one of the most dangerous countries in the middle-east, Israel.
    28) The world bank, amongst others tying privatization schemes to huge aid loans, with the added benefit of economically enslaving poor countries with interest they can’t hope to pay.
    29) The oil companies are reaping the largest profits ever, while we pay at the pumps, and our government subsidizes the oil companies’ risks in new drillings and security.

    Need I go on? Maybe I should. It is important to see the ’big picture.’

    Take any one of these problems alone, one could shrug it off as "politics," or a "problem that can be fixed," or maybe "not as bad as one would think."
    But, when you paint the big picture, with all the interlocking details - the scope of the destruction becomes clear.

    It is bizarre to watch Orwell’s "1984" unfolding before my eyes; Surreal (I wish).
    Whether it’s a conspiracy, and/or the inevitable result of unbridaled capitalism, hoarding and greed; and/or the megalomania of those fewer and fewer people controlling & owning more and more; It must be stopped.
    It would be good to identify the source of the problem so we can learn, and we can make sure it will never occur again. In the mean time, it must be stopped.

    I love this land, it’s beautiful, and like so many other places around the world, a good place. The majority of the people are actually very kind and make good neighbors when left to their own devices. I am friends with some who voted for Bush, they are actually well-meaning & good hearted people (they wouldn’t be my friends otherwise), when they aren’t being misled by the likes of Limbaugh, FOX news, right-wing religion and government propaganda.

    I, for one, apologize to the world for what the American government is doing. I fear it is not ’my’ government anymore. The lobbyist’s of the rich and powerful have been trying to, and have been writing our laws for many a decade. This is nothing new, this has been going on for a long time. The full destructiveness of that trend just becoming abundantly clear in these terrible times.

    I remember a line somewhere, something about "government of the People by the People, and for the People." Oh yea, the U.S. Constitution. I fear this no longer exists.
    I remember another line somewhere, when the above fails, we have the right, the imperative "to fix or change it." Oh yea, the Declaration of Independence.

    Even though those in power have made those who question them out to be unpatriotic, amoral, liberals (a curse word to them); none of that is true - it’s the biggest lie. There is hardly anything more patriotic that you can do than to question authority. It is our right and imperative in a democracy to make sure that the government actually serves us, the people!

Zionism’s a problem, but when I see the world’s problems being blamed on ’the JEWS’ it drives me crazy - it’s like saying Catholics are to blame for Northern Ireland (or Protestants are to blame for NOrthern Ireland) - the religion is important as a cultural backdrop, no doubt about it - but the religion is not the primary reason for conflict - conflict on the scale of Israel/Palestine is the product of decades of prejudice, colonialism, indescriminate slaughter of Jews (among other hated minorities in Nazi-dominated Europe) and subsequent violence against and expulsion of Palestinians by Zionists. It’s fighting for territory, for water rights, fighting manipulated by the ’Great Powers’ to serve their interests. It’s clear that Bin Laden’s main complaints was our presence in Saudi Arabia, where we set up permanent bases after the 1st Gulf War (our fault!); and also our absolute support of Israel even though they refused to leave the occupied territories and killed 16 Palestinians to every 1 Israli; also, the U.S. vetoed every UN sanction against Israel’s war/occupation crimes (our fault).   • Doesn’t "the facts were being fixed around the policy" just mean "the facts around the policy were being *determined*?" "Fixed" can mean "manufactured", "altered", or "tampered with". It can also mean "verified", "set", or "evaluated." If the person behind the memo actually had evidence that facts were being manufactured, he would have been quite a bit more explicit in his report.

    • This section of the memo was talking about Bush’s determination for a military solution, but the intelligence did not support a lawful invasion. Therefore, the intelligence was being "fixed". It’s obvious from the context that the meaning was "manipulated".

    • According to Webster’s II New Riverside University Dictionary Fixed is:
      1. Being set firmly in position : stationary.
      2. chem. a. Nonvolatile. B. Being in a stable combined form.
      3. Not subject to change or variation. : constant < a fixed time for the meeting>
      4. Firmly, often dogmatically held
      5. Illegally prearranged as to outcome

      ’It can also mean "verified", "set", or "evaluated." ’ I found nothing similar to "verified" or "evaluated" this in any of the 3 dictionaries that I use. Particularly nothing suggesting to be verified or evaluated.

      My reading of the memo suggests the #5 use of the word fixed.

I think that the american public needs to indite all these people as a group as traitors to our bill of rights and the US Constitution. When americans wake up to the fact that the medical, military and petro, banking cartels have been in charge of the white collar crimes since before ww2, it wil be easy to see how they have padded they fortunes by llies and deceit. I will say it again, I had relatives that worked on construction of the WTC, they were never took down by airplanes, they had galvanized 2 inch pipe for the heating and air conditioning, that after 25 years was deterioating and it was a pre text to start a war for the ignorant americans, to believe the garbage coming from the men that are suppose to be looking out for our welfare, in this country, but you have to look at all the money records that were lost and blown up in the buildings from some 80 countries financial records, it was 2 weeks after the WTC went down that Enron and Merril lynch came out in the news , do we need to look any further , how many of there records were in the WTC’s?
      Hopefully some lawyers group somewhere starts a grand jury investigation against the men and women in these think tanks in power, to stop this charade. Of lies and deceit.   • I am a member of several verifiable voting groups. I can say with some authority, the 2004 "election" was corrupt. Since the election was corrupt, the result is also corrupt. At this moment, the United States of America has no legally elected government. The people of America are not represented in this government (one look at the legislation coming out of this Congress proves that beyond any doubt). According to the Constitution of the United States of America, THERE IS NO TAXATION WITHOUT REPRESENTATION. This unelected and illegal administration DOES NOT HAVE THE AUTHORITY TO TAX THE AMERICAN PEOPLE.

  • I am not sure where this site is based? But, alot more people in the states know about "the lies". You keep saying Bush and Blair need to be prosecuted?
