The ugly face of fascism appeared before the Senate Judiciary Committee Tuesday.
It appeared twice: With Attorney General Alberto Gonzales and again with FBI Director Robert Mueller as both demanded Congress not only reauthorize the rights-robbing USA Patriot Act but expand the ability of the federal government’s goose-stepping storm troopers to invade the privacy of Americans and ignore the protections of the Constitution.
"Now is not the time for us to be engaging in (…) -

Canadian Prime Minister Paul Martin was forced to take the correct position on missile defense by refusing to back U.S. President George W. Bush. At the same time Canada has come up short on the (…) -

If the radical right’s utter contempt for our nation’s courts was anything less than wholly evident prior to tonight, that blinder has been at once and permanently removed. The worst kept secret about the Republican Party in 2005 is that it does not hate the federal government in its entirety: it merely loathes—and seeks desperately to decimate—one co-equal branch of that government, the judicial branch. 5 commentsThe International Criminal Tribunal for Iraq (ICTI) this week found both Bush and Tony Blair guilty of a series of charges, and found they deserve life sentences for war crimes and genocide in Iraq.

Two amendments against gays. Not one, but two amendments to the Texas constitution are being considered. I’m impressed! You guys must have some legislators really scared!
HJR 6 would ban marriage for gay and lesbian couples. HJR 19 would not only ban marriage for gay and lesbian couples, but would also prohibit civil unions and domestic partnerships. It has the potential of nullifying legal contracts, such as a will or a power of attorney. These two idiot amendments (…) -
