Bush’s Assault On Freedom: What’s To Stop Him? By Paul Craig Roberts July 3, 2006
On June 29, the U.S. Supreme Court in a 5-3 decision ruled that President Bush’s effort to railroad tortured Guantanamo Bay detainees in kangaroo courts "violates both U.S. law and the Geneva Conventions."
Better late than never, but it sure took a long time for the checks and balances to call a halt to the illegal and unconstitutional behavior of the executive.

The Grinch Who Stole Fitzmas
13 June 2006 par (Open-Publishing)
5 commentsFitzgerald explained that his investigation should not be interpreted as a vindication of a political point of view. I’d recommend reviewing his October, 2005 press conference.
Even if indicted, Rove would have faced crimes that had nothing to do with his political point of view or his notorious style as a Republican political guru, and everything to do with his breaking the law.
The facts surrounding the Plame case are still far from resolved, so it would be pre-mature to assume (…) -

By William Fisher As human rights organizations expressed skepticism that detainees recently transferred from Guantanamo Bay to Saudi Arabian custody could receive fair trials and escape torture - and a new study charged that the country’s textbooks continue to promote intolerance of other religions - the oil-rich Kingdom put the finishing touches on its new Human Rights Commission. The new commission - which the government characterizes as an independent rights watchdog — came into (…)

Information Sharing on the Rove Indictment Story
25 May 2006 par (Open-Publishing)
By Marc Ash,
Fitzgerald Investigation
I’d like to break this posting into two categories: What we know, and what we believe. They will be clearly marked.

We know that each source was in a position to know what they were talking about. We know that the office of Special Counsel Patrick Fitzgerald will (…)
