WE, THE TAXPAYERS, WANT AND DESERVE ANSWERS:
Case Exemplifies Unbridled and Misused Power by DA’s office and others involved in Dallas, Texas Justice Resulting in expensive cases of Incarcerated Innocence. (STATE OF TEXAS v. LAKEITH AMIR-SHARIF)
Our system of justice is in obvious and desperate need of repair when the "TRUTH" is treated as a problem in need of a solution, and our solution is to eliminate truth as a prerequisite to arrest, indictment and conviction of INNOCENT citizens. (…) -

Irving “Scooter” Libby, V.P. Dick Cheney’s ex-chief of staff, has been a very bad Neocon! He was convicted on March 6, 2007, by a federal jury, in Washington, DC, on four criminal counts dealing with perjury before a grand jury, lying to the FBI and obstruction of justice. Libby was at the center of a cabal based in the White House, which manipulated intelligence and deliberately lied the country into (…) -
The Sacco and Vanzetti Case Revisited
7 March 2007 par (Open-Publishing)
“Great trials express—bear—the soul of a nation...” The late historian, Arthur Schlesinger Jr. (1)
It read like the kind of brutal crime—especially in that Roaring Twenties era—that might have been pulled off by gang headed by a trigger happy John Dillinger, or someone of that ilk. At 3 PM, April 15, 1920, two men robbed, and then shot to death, a shoe factory paymaster carrying about $16,000 in cash and his security guard. The incident took place in South Braintree, MA, near Boston. The (…) -

Following an appeals court’s divided decision upholding the constitutionality of the Military Commissions Act, opponents of the measure are racing the clock to file an appeal to the US Supreme Court and have it heard during the court’s current term.
A spokesperson for the Center for Constitutional Rights, the New York-based legal advocacy group that brought the original suit, told IPS it expected the appeal to be filed within the next two weeks and heard in the spring. (…) -

In the face of multiple legal and legislative challenges, President George W. Bush this week issued an executive order to allow cases against prisoners at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, to move forward to trials by military tribunals.
The challenges are to the constitutionality of the Military Commissions Act of 2006 (MCA), which Bush signed into law last October. The first three cases to be tried under the law involve an Australian, a Yemeni, and a Canadian, all held at (…) -
From little fascist Denmark: another ordinary day in the news
15 February 2007 par (Open-Publishing)
2 commentsMany people I speak with around the world, friends or casual acquaintances, have expressed what might best be described as feelings of cognitive dissonance when I have attempted to explain how bad things are in today’s Denmark. It just doesn’t match the fairy-tale picture of a modern, progressive, peace-loving, little country which most people have acquired throughout the previous decades. This problem has been particularly acute when I’ve had to explain what currents underlay the rather (…)
