The title of the story is: I just got back from a FEMA Detainment Camp
This is a story that needs to get some serious passing around. I believe that Hurricane Katrina is our Kristalnacht. I’ve been hearing (reading) stories (some with pictures) the last few years about secret encampments enclosed with razor wire. This isn’t one those places, but this story will definitely let you know what’s in store. I am reminded of the words of (…) -

BERLIN, Germany (Reuters) — A conservative German minister in a southern state has caused uproar by saying U.S. President George W. Bush should be "shot down" for his handling of the crisis in hurricane-struck New Orleans.
Andreas Renner, Social Minister in Germany’s southern state of Baden-Wuertemberg, clarified later that he had only meant Bush should be downed politically.
During a visit to a local company on Tuesday, Renner said of Bush: "He ought to be (…) -

19 commentsVice President Dick Cheney, in Gulfport, Mississippi on a tour of the Katrina hurricane zone, was told to "go fuck yourself" twice on live television.
During a discussion on hurricane relief efforts, an off camera protester shouts, "Go fuck yourself, Mr. Cheney. Go fuck yourself."
The camera remains on Cheney while we hear scuffling in the background. Cheney continues speaking.
CNN’s reporter asks Cheney, "Are you getting a lot of that Mr. Vice President?"
Cheney replies, "First time (…) -

Even in America?! Bleat the politicians and the US media. Only in America! Responds Daniel Patrick Welch, with an eye on how the response to Hurricane Katrina lays bare the uncivil infrastructure beneath the US’ carefully maintained façade. Issues of class and race are nowhere more starkly on view than they are in the wake of this largely man-made disaster. The near total incompetence and callousness of the Bush administration has thankfully floated to the top of New Orleans’ (…) -

Washington - "For God’s sake, are you blind?," a woman shouts at the head of the federal emergency management agency (FEMA), Michael Brown.
"You’re patting each other on the back, while people here are dying."
The woman is not a victim of Hurricane Katrina. She is a reporter with US television network MSNBC who is so affected by the misery she has witnessed she can hold back no longer.
"Katrinagate" is the term being used by the media to describe the biggest (…) -

WASHINGTON
It took a while, but the president finally figured out a response to the destruction of New Orleans.
Later this week (no point rushing things) W. is dispatching Dick Cheney to the rancid lake that was a romantic city. The vice president has at long last lumbered back from a Wyoming vacation, and, reportedly, from shopping for a $2.9 million waterfront estate in St. Michael’s, a retreat in the Chesapeake Bay where Rummy has a (…) -
Disaster used as political payoff

The Federal Emergency Management Agency has done it again.
Already under fire for its woeful response to Hurricane Katrina, the federal disaster agency appears to have turned hurricane relief donations into a political payoff - until it was challenged.
All last week, FEMA bureaucrats gave prominent placement on the agency’s Web site to Operation Blessing, the Virginia-based charity run by controversial right-wing evangelist and Christian Coalition founder Pat (…)
