Is it just a striking coincidence?
The 9.0 killer earthquake in Asia that unleashed tsunamis killing tens of thousands followed exactly one year to the hour after the Bam, Iran, earthquake that killed 26,000.
On Dec. 26, 2003, a 6.6 quake hit the ancient city of Bam in Iran. While the quake was much smaller than the one that struck near the island of Sumatra Sunday, its epicenter was directly under the city.

For hours last week, the crew of the Coast Guard cutter Alex Haley repeatedly radioed the captain of the cargo ship Selendang Ayu, asking him what was wrong with his engines.
They never got a clear answer, said Coast Guard Capt. Jack Davin, who is in charge of marine safety in Alaska.

My sister just found my 80 year old mother late this morning sitting in a state of shock in a Red Cross church evacuation shelter in Tarpon Springs, Florida. Wiith her were some of her neighbors, along with a number of the regular street derelict residents of the facility. She was forcibly evacuated yesterday afternoon with only minutes warning and only enough time to grab her medications, cell phone, and phone charger.
