Bolivia joins Cuba, Venezuela in rejecting U.S.-backed trade

HAVANA - Bolivia’s new left-leaning president signed a pact with Cuba and Venezuela on Saturday rejecting U.S.-backed free trade and promising a socialist version of regional cooperation.
Cuban authorities did not release copies of the so-called Bolivarian Alternative for the Americas signed by Bolivia’s Evo Morales, so its contents were unclear.

3 commentsThe US media refuses to acknowledge that Iran plans on opening it’s Oil exchange up in EUROS beginning next week. The sanctions being placed on Iran through the UN will outlaw countries from using this market, thus keeping the US’ stranglehold on the oil markets who have traded solely in the US dollar up until now. US would lose $1 Trillion a year if this market is opened.

HONG KONG - China should stop buying U.S. Treasuries and take steps to reduce its holdings in those bonds, a Hong Kong newspaper on Tuesday quoted a high-ranking Chinese official as saying.
China should instead increase imports from the United States, said Cheng Siwei, a vice chairman of China’s parliament, the National People’s Congress, the Wen Wei Po reported.

Caracas, February 17, 2005-Venezuela’s gross domestic product grew 17.3% in 2004, closing the year with a "notable recuperation" according to the Central Bank of Venezuela. The oil economy, which accounts for 80% of the country’s exports, experienced an 8.7% growth rate. This growth "constitutes the highest level reached since the Central Bank of Venezuela began to calculate the figure (GDP)," said the Central Bank.
