Texaco’s Toxic Legacy In Ecuador by César Chelala and Alejandro M. Garro June 14, 2007
It can be considered one of the most unequal battles in the world today. It pits a group of indigenous people in Ecuador, almost totally devoid of material resources, against one of the most powerful oil corporations in the world. The outcome of this battle will impact them for the rest of their lives.
From 1964 to 1992, Texaco (which later merged with Chevron and is now called Chevron) carried out oil (…)

Under the banner of "For freedom of speech and against imperialism", hundreds of thousands of Venezuelans took to the streets of Caracas on June 2 in defence of their revolution, and as a direct response to the domestic and international campaign being whipped up by Washington in the wake of the non-renewal of Radio Caracas TV’s (RCTV) broadcasting concession, dwarfing all (…) -

She’s at it again on the Journal’s editorial page in her June 4 article called "The Young and the Restless," subtitled "Is this the beginning of the end for Hugo Chavez?" The writer is self-styled Latin American expert Mary Anastasia O’Grady always getting top grades in vilification and disinformation but failing ones on regional knowledge and legitimate journalism.
This time she may have overstepped. Her article wreaks with disinformation, outright lies, and most (…) -

I have endured a lot of smear and hatred since Casey was killed and especially since I became the so-called "Face" of the American anti-war movement. Especially since I renounced any tie I have remaining with the Democratic Party, I have been further trashed on such "liberal blogs" as the Democratic Underground. Being called an "attention whore" and being told "good riddance" are some of the more milder rebukes.
I have come to some heartbreaking conclusions this Memorial (…) -

What would you say if a known terrorist was about to be freed on $350 thousand dollar bail? Would it anger you? Of course it would if this country truly believes in capturing and punishing terrorists. What would be your reaction if this was the last recorded message made by a pilot of a downed air plane, “We have an explosion aboard, we are descending immediately! ... We have fire on board! We are requesting immediate landing! We have a total (…) -

1 commentTo Joe Scarborough and Steve Adubato, tell the truth of President Chavez By Mary MacElveen March 23, 2007
As I have watched Scarborough Country go after President Bush’s handling of the Iraq War, I must say that I have enjoyed the barbs being launched against this administration. I just wish that shows like Scarborough Country did that many years ago and fact checked this president as he sent over 3,100 soldiers to their deaths and killed thousands upon thousands of innocent Iraqis.
