Eduardo Hughes Galeano (born September 3, 1940) is an Uruguayan journalist whose books have been translated into many languages. His works transcend orthodox genres, combining documentary, fiction, journalism, political analysis, and history. The author himself has denied that he is a historian: "I’m a writer obsessed with remembering, with remembering the past of America above all and above all that of Latin America, intimate land condemned to amnesia." Anomalies, Prisons, and Geophysics: How Governments Use Data and How to Stop Them
6 October 2006 par (Open-Publishing)
A common definition of an anomaly is "a deviation from the common rule, type, arrangement, or form." This definition, however, can be simplified by stating that an anomaly "is a deviation from specific parameters." The defining characteristic of an anomaly is that it can only exist in a comparative setting, implying that it can only be detected within a certain data set. Once a data set is obtained then parameters can be specified to filter out so called anomalies for evaluation. Depending (…)

YOUR GOVERNMENT, on the basis of outrageous lies, is waging a murderous and utterly illegitimate war in Iraq, with other countries in their sights.
YOUR GOVERNMENT is openly torturing people, and justifying it.
YOUR GOVERNMENT puts people in jail on the merest suspicion, refusing them lawyers, and either holding them indefinitely or deporting them in the dead of night.
YOUR GOVERNMENT is moving each day (…) -

America is called a "melting pot", but it is not. It’s not melting or merging economically or culturally or politically any more than are the various diverse populations who live together in the British Isles or on the "continent". So it’s really no mystery that a good portion of our citizens aren’t politically aware or educted enough to understand what’s happening right here and now in our homeland.
In may opinion America is on the edge of total and (…) -

The United States of Barbarism
by James Bovard, September 25, 2006
The U.S. Senate is cutting a deal with President Bush to make America a banana republic. Last week, three senators reached an agreement with the White House that will de facto permit the CIA to continue torturing people around the world. And the deal will prevent anyone - including Bush administration officials - from being held liable for the torture.
This is latest sign that our elected representatives in Washington (…) -

1 commentDear ABC Owners and Editors,
You failed to note in your article "U.S. Adopts Tougher Stance at Guantanamo" less than 10 people out of over 400 have been charged with anything...except being in Afghanistan while Muslim. Got Geneva? Rarely in the past five years have you printed the truth about anything.
A class action lawsuit from military families may refresh your memory. We certainly have grounds and we will win-ask your own lawyers if you have any doubts.

One of the truly great mysteries of our time is WHY do victims of foreign incarceration and torture (the result, very often, of direct CIA involvement)..continue to immigrate to the "land of the free"?
Are they in denial? Ignorant? All forgiving?
