Durango CO—Late yesterday afternoon (3-20-06), Judith Pfeif and a gathering of concerned citizens approached representatives of the newspaper, Durango Herald with a Petition asking them to print a story about the 911 cover up exposing the 911 lie. This huge cover up and the lies about 911 are responsible for the better part of the chaos we see in our world today. All we are asking from the press is to print the truth.
The Woman Judith Pfeif, who is the organizer of a group (…)

American Newspapers all ought to be renamed: US OFFICIALS SAY
19 March 2006 par (Open-Publishing)
3 comments03/18/06 "The Independent" — — It is a bright winter morning and I am sipping my first coffee of the day in Los Angeles. My eye moves like a radar beam over the front page of the Los Angeles Times for the word that dominates the minds of all Middle East correspondents: Iraq. In post-invasion, post-Judith Miller mode, the American press is supposed to be challenging the lies of this war. So the story beneath the headline "In a Battle of Wits, Iraq’s Insurgency Mastermind Stays a Step Ahead (…)

New York Times Shills Again
18 March 2006 par (Open-Publishing)
2 commentsThe New York Times has had some remarkable coverage about Senator Feingold’s censure resolution. Remarkable in its naivete and lack of balance.
Today’s Times featured an editorial entitled, "Time for Facts, Not Resolutions," suggesting that:" [T]he censure proposal is a bad idea. Members of Congress don’t need to take extraordinary measures like that now.
They need to fulfill their sworn duty to investigate the executive branch’s misdeeds and failings." Just how exactly does the New York (…) -

AMERICA’S RELUCTANT HOLIDAY
23 February 2006 par (Open-Publishing)
By David R. Hoffman, Legal Editor of PRAVDA.Ru
January 23, 1983 marked a pivotal point in an otherwise mundane life. On that date, my first article entitled, “Martin Luther King Jr.’s Birthday Should Be a National Holiday” was published, thus beginning a writing career that culminated with me being named the Legal Editor of the English language edition of PRAVDA.Ru
After that eventful day, I spent hours reading books and researching articles about other lesser known, but equally (…) -

1 commentIt’s not your imagination-the Sunday shows really do lean right.
By Paul Waldman
If you’re up early on Sunday mornings in Washington, you can observe a weekly ritual. Around 9am, a string of chauffeured town cars and SUVs pulls up outside the NBC studio on Nebraska Avenue in Northwest Washington where "Meet the Press" is recorded, and out tumble government officials and politicians, reporters, and pundits. They scan the weekend papers over coffee in the green room, catch up with the (…) -

Full-Page Ads Launch Anti-Union Drive
By Amy Joyce
The full-page newspaper ads that ran yesterday showed a "Closed" sign over a padlocked gate, declaring the sign "The New Union Label. . . . Brought to you by the union ’leaders’ who helped bankrupt steel, auto, and airline companies.
The advertisements in The Washington Post, New York Times and Wall Street Journal, introduced the Center for Union Facts and its Web site, UnionFacts.com. The group was created by Richard Berman, a (…) -

Lacey to Voice staff: Drop dead
By Tim Redmond
tredmond@sfbg.com
The merger between the nation’s two largest alternative newspaper chains was finally consummated Jan. 31, and the very next day, Mike Lacey, the new owner of the Village Voice, was in New York City giving the staff the facts of life.
Lacey met with Voice staffers Feb. 1, and, according to sources who were present at the meeting, announced that the Voice news section was too soft because it was full of commentary and (…) -
Those Danish Cartoons: Don’t Be Fooled This Isn’t an Issue of Islam versus Secularism
11 February 2006 par (Open-Publishing)
1 commentBy ROBERT FISK
So now it’s cartoons of the Prophet Mohamed with a bomb-shaped turban. Ambassadors are withdrawn from Denmark, Gulf nations clear their shelves of Danish produce, Gaza gunmen threaten the European Union. In Denmark, Fleming Rose, the "culture" editor of the pip-squeak newspaper which published these silly cartoons—last September, for heaven’s sake—announces that we are witnessing a "clash of civilisations" between secular Western democracies and Islamic societies. This does (…) -
Smearing Jimmy Carter : Born in the NSA ?
9 February 2006 par (Open-Publishing)
2 commentsOn May 18, 2002 Newsmax.com , in typical fashion, retailed a smear launched against former Presdent Jimmy Carter. The vulgar tabloid , The Globe , showed pictures of an alleged "lady friend" of the pious and genuinely Christian Jimmy Carter, making the totally outrageous claim that the former president had a mistress.
Since the "mistress" in question denies any romantic relationship with Carter , all the reader was left with was a photograph of a woman placing herself in the man’s (…)
