Legendary Canadian singer Neil Young is taking shots at the Bush administration and its war in Iraq.
His controversial new CD, Living With War, goes on sale next Tuesday. It’s filled with songs of protest with titles like “Looking for a Leader” and “Let’s Impeach the President.”
In the latter, Young accused Bush of lying and wonders if the government would have been more responsive to the needs of hurricane-ravaged New Orleans if al-Qaeda had destroyed the city.
Bush himself appears on the track - or, at least, recorded clips of the president - talking about Saddam Hussein and weapons of mass destruction.
But Young’s latest album isn’t all about anger. The singer praises American troops and shares his hopes for peace.
In an interview with CNN, Young said he hopes his songs will lead to an exchange of ideas.
“It’s about empowering people by giving them a voice,” he said. “I know not everyone believes what I say is what they think. But red and blue is not black and white. We’re all together. It’s a record about unification.”

Let’s impeach the president for lying
And leading our country into war
Abusing all the power that we gave him
And shipping all our money out the door
He’s the man who hired all the criminals
The White House shadows who hide behind closed doors
And bend the facts to fit with their new stories
Of why we have to send our men to war
Let’s impeach the president for spying
On citizens inside their own homes
Breaking every law in the country
By tapping our computers and telephones
What if Al Qaeda blew up the levees
Would New Orleans have been safer that way
Sheltered by our government’s protection
Or was someone just not home that day?
Let’s impeach the president
For hijacking our religion and using it to get elected
Dividing our country into colors
And still leaving black people neglected
Thank god he’s racking down on steroids
Since he sold his old baseball team
There’s lot of people looking at big trouble
But of course the president is clean
Thank God

The Neil Young fan who wrote this song last year, after Neil Young’s father passed away:

swears he’ll never take back those words, but he has officially offered an objection to Neil’s latest effort and has protested his protest with this song:

Thanks again Neil!
here I thought "Four Dead in Ohio" WAS PRETTY GOOD!
In a bar in Chaing Mai my wife and I were somewhat surprised when the local star "Tuk" broke in to "There is a town in North Ontario-----"
Even if we do not tell you we are listening
