The NSA spying is illegal!
4 February 2006 par (Open-Publishing)
1 commentDear Members of Congress:
We are scholars of constitutional law and former government officials. We write in our individual capacities as citizens concerned by the Bush Administration’s National Security Agency domestic spying program, as reported in the New York Times, and in particular to respond to the Justice Department’s December 22, 2005 letter to the majority and minority leaders of the House and Senate Intelligence Committees setting forth the administration’s defense of the (…) -
We want Osama bin Laden brought to justice in the United States ... or do we?

On September 20, 2001, Bush coined the now infamous phrase: "Either you are with us, or you are with the terrorists" ... that speech was given days after the attacks that befell the United States on 9/11.
What a hypocrite Bush was and is, making that statement seeing that he gives safe harbor to a known terrorist, Luis Posada Carriles.
On October 6, 1976, Cubana flight 455 took off from Caracas carrying 73 persons including a fencing team. Whether you are speaking of (…) -
Bush’s Removal of the Abramoff Prosecutor was a Political Deal to Scuttle the Investigation
1 February 2006 par (Open-Publishing)
On Friday, January 27, immediately after Bush announced Noel Hillman the federal Abramoff prosecutor was leaving his position to become a federal judge, I wrote that it was a political deal to stop the Abramoff prosecution. I posted an article on Huffington Post on January 29th.
We now know there was a political deal between the Bush Administration and New Jersey Democrats to get rid of the Abramoff prosecutor, Noel Hillman, by offering him a federal judgeship in New Jersey. It’s a deal (…) -
Law Students Turn Backs On Alberto Gonzales & Say No To Bush Spying
1 February 2006 par (Open-Publishing)
6 commentsFuture American lawyers to be proud of
Alberto Gonzales spoke before law students at Georgetown today, justifying illegal, unauthorized surveilance of US citizens, but during the course of his speech the students in class did something pretty ballsy and brave. They got up from their seats and turned their backs to him.
To make matters worse for Gonzales, additional students came into the room, wearing black cowls and carrying a simple banner, written on a sheet.
Fortunately for him, it (…) -
Bush picks Abramoff prosecutor for federal judgeship, removed from case
28 January 2006 par (Open-Publishing)
2 commentsWashington — The investigation into Jack Abramoff, the disgraced Republican lobbyist, took a provocative new turn Thursday when the Justice Department said the chief prosecutor in the inquiry would step down next week because he had been nominated to a federal judgeship by President Bush.
The prosecutor, Noel Hillman, is chief of the department’s Office of Public Integrity, and the move ends his involvement in an investigation that has reached into the administration as well as into the (…) -

George’s Curious Appointments .
Examples Abound
1) Viveca Novak of Time Magazine , no relation to Bob , proffers allegedly exculpatory testimony that pundits speculate will aid Karl Rove in his so far successful life long attempt to avoid the dreaded indictment. Viv’s hubby is nominated by President Bush for a term on the Federal Election Commission.
2) Catherine Martin’s husband Kevin Martin , replaced Colin Powell’s son , Michael, as Chmn. of the FCC. Ms. Martin was (…) -
The End of ’Unalienable Rights’
25 January 2006 par (Open-Publishing)
2 commentsEvery American school child is taught that in the United States, people have “unalienable rights,” heralded by the Declaration of Independence and enshrined in the U.S. Constitution and Bill of Rights. Supposedly, these liberties can’t be taken away, but they are now gone.
Today, Americans have rights only at George W. Bush’s forbearance. Under new legal theories - propounded by Supreme Court nominee Samuel Alito and other right-wing jurists - Bush effectively holds all power over all (…) -
Above the Law
23 January 2006 par (Open-Publishing)
The Senate Judiciary committee will be voting on the confirmation of Samuel Alito next week. I had not been watching the hearings or following the "Alito story" too closely, (he will most likely be confirmed by the committee), today however, the story became interesting. The democrats lashed out at Bushco and Samuel Alito. Senator Leahy came out to say he will vote no to Alito who he feels will not provide the necessary check "at a time when the president is seizing unprecedented power" (…)

2 commentsCannabis Three face jail for helping MS sufferers
For immediate release
The adage that a good deed never goes unpunished may well have been written for Mark Gibson, Lezley Gibson and Marcus Davies. These are the people behind THC4MS, an organisation whose sole purpose is to provide Multiple Sclerosis sufferers with a life-altering cannabis medication. A crime for which they due to stand trial at Carlisle Crown Court on the 1st February 2006.
Over the last five years, THC4MS have sent (…)
