Explaining How Depleted Uranium Is Killing Civilians, Soldiers, Land
8 July 2006 par (Open-Publishing)
1 commentBy Christopher Bollyn
Depleted uranium weapons, and the untold misery they wreak on mankind, are taboo subjects in the mainstream media. This exclusive report should break the media embargo imposed on the American people.
Despite being a grossly under-reported subject in the mainstream, there is intense public interest in depleted uranium (DU) and the damage it inflicts on humankind and the environment.
While American Free Press is actively investigating DU weapons and how they (…) -
Spreading Cancer: Depleted uranium turns Bush’s lies into high-tech horror
7 July 2006 par (Open-Publishing)

The unending game of “pretend” that the U.S. media allow George Bush to play on the global stage, so often letting his lying utterances hang suspended, unchallenged, in the middle of the story, as though they were plausible - as though a class of third-graders couldn’t demolish them with a few innocent questions - feels like the journalistic equivalent of waterboarding. Gasp! Some truth, please!
I suggest the prez has forfeited the right to command a headline, or (…) -
Law? What Law?
3 July 2006 par (Open-Publishing)
In all the consideration given to the issue of drug use and abuse within our society there is surely one question that is missing. What exactly are the laws for? If they are designed to protect a simple people from themselves then any trip to a club, town centre, suburban housing estate or shopping centre will prove their failure. And yet, one would suspect that, if challenged, your local politician would cite exactly that reason - i.e. these drugs are dangerous and evil and you need (…)

He’s Back

The Cannabis Man - after a period of reflection and legal advice - has returned to the battle over the plant with renewed vigour.
In recent weeks he has investigated a myriad of possible ways forward and has taken decisive action to further his aims of having the plant investigated and discussed in a simple and honest way. He believes he is closer than ever to achieving his goal of taking some of the dishonesty out of the debate and, instead, framing it in a way that is both open and (…) -

3 July 2006 par (Open-Publishing)
June 29, 2006 - "You are not being truthful about the purpose of your visit to Italy. What is your interest in diabetes and depleted uranium?" the Italian consul in Bombay demanded to know.
"I am just traveling to Italy to meet with Leuren Moret," the famous Indian doctor answered.
Leuren Moret recounted the episode in an interview June 29, 2006. She said, "The doctor had never mentioned either diabetes or depleted uranium."
The Italian government official was grilling one of the (…) -

The town of Columbus, Nebraska, bills itself as a "City of Power and Progress." If Archer Daniels Midland gets its way, that power will be partially generated by coal, one of the dirtiest forms of energy. When burned, it emits carcinogenic pollutants and high levels of the greenhouse gases linked to global warming.
Ironically this coal will be used to generate ethanol, a plant-based petroleum substitute that has been hyped by both environmentalists and President George (…) -

2 comments– Britain distances itself from Bush administration Negotiators try to salvage package at UN summit
by Ewen MacAskill
The Bush administration, heavily influence by the Christian right, is blocking key proposals for a new United Nations package to combat Aids worldwide over the next five years because of its opposition to the distribution of condoms and needle exchanges and references to prostitutes, drug addicts and homosexuals.
The United States is being supported by many Muslim (…) -

By Katherine Curtis
WASHINGTON - A dramatic shift of funds and priorities is needed to stem the tide of the global AIDS pandemic, said women’s health advocates in Washington, DC last week, marking the 25th anniversary of the disease’s discovery.
As world leaders convene in New York for a United Nations meeting to review progress on a 2001 commitment to fight the disease, the activists from Zimbabwe, Kenya, and the United States said that since HIV and AIDS tend to target women more than (…) -

27 May 2006 par (Open-Publishing)
2 commentsOSAKA — An Iraqi journalist and a Japanese human rights activist said the public has a poor idea of the situation in Iraq and warned of an impending health catastrophe as more Iraqis contract cancer from exposure to depleted uranium shells used by the U.S. and Britain.
Speaking at a public gathering Thursday evening in Osaka, Isam Rasheed, a freelance journalist, and Fumikazu Nishitani, head of Osaka-based NGO Rescue the Iraqi Children, gave an update of what was going on in the Middle (…)
