A US Air Force investigation concluded that "most sites" used for deploying nuclear weapons in Europe lack the US Department of Defense’s minimum security requirements, according to the Federation of American Scientists.
A summary of the report was released in February, but declassified details obtained by the federation reveal "a much bigger nuclear security problem in Europe" than was previously known, the group wrote on its Web site.

Ireland has voted No to the Lisbon Treaty, plunging the European Union into a new crisis.

The Lisbon Treaty looks set to be rejected by the Irish people as counting of votes continues around the country this evening.

Ireland is expected to reject the Lisbon treaty, the country’s justice minister admitted today.
Justice Minister Dermot Ahern said unofficial indications showed the results of yesterday’s referendum on the EU treaty were going against the "yes" camp.

Sinn Féin MEP Mary Lou McDonald speaking on the eve of poll on the Lisbon Treaty referendum called on people to come out and vote in massive numbers to give the government a strong mandate to re-negotiate the Treaty and get a better deal for Ireland. Ms. McDonald was on a walkabout in Dublin City Centre with Aengus Ó Snodaigh TD and Councillor Killian Forde.

Sinn Fein urges ’No’ vote

London - Irish Republican party Sinn Fein urged voters on Wednesday to vote against the European Union’s controversial treaty, in a crunch referendum being watched anxiously by Ireland’s EU partners.
Sinn Fein, the political wing of the Irish Republican Army, is the only mainstream Irish party against the Lisbon Treaty, whose fate is to be voted on by the Irish on Thursday.
