13 January 2009 par (Open-Publishing)
An Indian goes into a law office and says,"since my traditional government never agreed by any treaty to be governed by your government, why does your legal system apply your government’s laws to me on my indigenous nation’s unceded national territory?"
’’...I have identified the stages by which this judicial abandonment of the truth standard in favour of judicially-backed political opportunism - the big lie - is the basis for the unconstitutional war and genocide upon which the empire of (…) -
The Responsibility for Our Future — "The Times of Harvey Milk"
1 January 2009 par (Open-Publishing)
(OKLAHOMA CITY) I’m hoping you had a safe (in more ways than one) calendar New Year’s celebration and are ready to commit to a political and social New Year of acquiring the legal recognition of our GLBT equality which is already ours as a right of citizenship.
This morning I watched the "The Times of Harvey Milk", a documentary of Harvey Milk composed of interviews with people who knew and worked with Harvey Milk, combined with news clips illustrating the important events in Milk’s public (…) -

When I was a teacher, I would often tell my students this hypothetical: “Our classroom has decided to form a new country and create a new government to run it. Now imagine that everyone in this class practices the same religion, except for two students.
History has shown that many nations have been involved in violent conflicts because of religious differences, and some are still engaged in such conflicts today. To eliminate this problem in our new nation, we are (…) -

America’s Gays and Lesbian Citizens Won’t Blend In
by James Nimmo
(OKLAHOMA CITY) The recent release of the bio-pic "Milk" about the life and death of San Francisco Supervisor Harvey Milk revivified interest in Milk’s most famous phrases such as "Come out, come out , wherever you are," and "Don’t blend in."
Another openly gay activist to have his speeches and writings dusted off is Bayard Rustin, an openly gay African-American who was a colleague of Dr. M.L. (…) -

6 commentsSome very courageous Turkish academics and writers have risked backlash and issued an Open Letter making an Apology for the Turkey-inflicted WW1 Armenian Genocide that killed as many as 1.5 million Armenians (for a recent news report see The Age, Melbourne, “Uproar over apology to Armenians”: ).
These courageous Turkish intellectuals – notably scholars, Ahmet Insel, Baskin Oran and Professor Cengiz Aktar (from Istanbul’s University of Bahcesehir), and a journalist, Ali Bayramoglu - risk (…) -

5 December 2008 par (Open-Publishing)
1 commentA coalition of Indigenous elders, social justice activists, community activists and organizers are voicing opposition to the upcoming Winter Olympics in Vancouver, Canada.

The mentor and sponsor of former CIA director George Tenet was David Boren, a U.S. Senator elected to three terms. Boren resigned from the Senate in 1994, with two years remaining on the third term. The year earlier he was being outed as queer in the gay press and also accused of sexually harassing his male staff members. For examples of gay publications with this information, see this youtube video and its link to excerpts (…) -
beware the bad messenger : hidden from history exposed!
2 December 2008 par (Open-Publishing)
The issue of Indian Residential Schools and genocide is so important that it’s colonization by doubtful and dubious elements is perhaps the most dangerous threat to exposure and decolonization. When a member of the same group that perpetrated the atrocities becomes a spokesperson - be afraid be very afraid...

Michael P. Wright — Norman, Oklahoma, USA — mpwright8@aol.com
[On November 22, 2008, I posted the original report about this event at BellaCiao.]
A peculiar email from Paul Bell, a dean at the University of Oklahoma, was sent on Friday, November 21, 2008. Since that time I have obtained verification of it from the OU Open Records Office. It is now scanned and online at this public Facebook album:
The recipients were department chairmen and directors on the Norman campus. I first (…)
