Today President George W. Bush was sworn in, while the rest of us were just plain
swearing.

"No! This can’t F^*%*#^ be happening!"

Yes, it did happen. The snow you saw in Washington was Hell freezing over. A
president who squandered the surplus, ran up the deficit, damaged our international
standing and launched a pointless war over weapons that did not exist was reelected.

It was really pointless listening to his speech today. He has distorted reality
so much that it is difficult to take anything he says at face value. While listening
to him ramble on, some old lyrics from the 80’s punk/glam band Missing Persons
came to mind.

"What are words for, When no one listens anymore."

Does anyone actually hear what he has to say? Bush has somehow managed to take uplifting words like "liberty", "freedom", "mission accomplished" and "democracy" and turn them into cynical, meaningless utterances.

Here is the good news. Bush, Dick Cheney and all of Congress are in Republican hands (not that this is really good news). They can no longer blame Bill Clinton, Tom Daschle or even Jane Fonda for their failures. Not that they won’t try, of course. When they do, just tell them:

"The blue dress didn’t cause this mess."

It is put up or shut up time for Republicans. Either their policies work, or they don’t. It’s sink or swim and I hope they have a life raft. So, just sit back and watch the bumbling buffoons bungle. It won’t be fun. It won’t be pretty. But a day of reckoning seldom is.

  • Bush did not win the election...it was a fake election and everyone with a mind knows it.

  • It is my hope that at some point soon...Some of the European nations will stand up together and confront the US and force them to back down and go home.

    • The only time the European nations stand up is when they are trying to kill each other; 7 years war, Napoleonic wars, Franco Prussian war, WWI, WWII.

  • I’m a firm believer in karma- the old ’what goes around comes around’. While these greedy oil-soaked monsters ruin our nation, the Chinese are quietly and swiftly building up their military. What better demise of the neighborhood bully than by another one, bigger and badder?

    • Bush is: reversing women’s rights here and abroad ... appointing right-wing radicals to powerful positions ... rewarding his rich supporters and turning a budget surplus into a multi-billion dollar deficit ... stacking the federal courts with ultra-conservative judges ... slashing funding for much-needed social programs ... gutting environmental regulations ... attacking affirmative action, Title IX and other civil rights legislation ... alienating the U.S. from nations worldwide and recklessly waging war in the Middle East ... and on, and on.

    • You may be on to something. I read a prophecy once that said China would attack America while she was busy with internal conflicts and was financially weak.
      The NWO is ready and waiting. Patriot Acts one and two, just trashed what was left of our sovergn citizen rights.

  • Give ’em enough rope, I always say. Bush is appointing liars and frauds to his cabinet. He believes the American people are behind him. He believes he’s doing God’s work. He believes he’s infalable. He’s going to make a huge mistake. Trust me. I will be very surprised if he avoids impeachment. The 2006 elections will undo him.

    Nuclear anihilation of resources.

    Satan and his band of fundamentalist christain supporters.

    I think that the two of us will meet squarly in the middle to cast a dark shadow, together, across the face of the globe.

    • America as never had democracy...this was evident when they bumped JFK off...so America get paying those tax dollars and prepare for more sacrifices of your sons and daughters in the profit war’s your Mr Brain dead Bush and Co are planing.

  • So depressing, GW is eroding all of our "freedoms" in the name of terrorism. War in Iraq now, Iran later, until the US picks every single Middle Eastern country because they may harbor terrorists. Such a phony election, a phony war and a phony president!
